BIOGRAPHY
Born in Southern California, J. Taylor was a natural artist from childhood. He attended California State University Los Angeles and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Art and Design. This Dallas based, Los Angeles bred visual artist has contributed a unique collection of work that is cutting edge and versatile. His vibrant colors and asymmetrical lines created with acrylic and oil paint invoke passion and inspiration to anyone who comes across his work. “My work synthesizes the evolution of art, where painting transmits the contents of the soul”.
J. Taylor has been painting and drawing what he sees, hears and experiences for twenty years. His creative influences are derived from the Urban Lifestyle; the sound, smell, diverse culture and music of urban life provide the passion to express his everyday experiences through art. Frequent collaboration with fellow artists motivated him to create Nsyde Out, an art group dedicated to networking in the art industry since 2005. With his keen sense of business and his artistic talent he has been able to commission his work to a diverse client base.
“Creativity comes from the mind. Originality comes from the heart. Art is a form of expression that translates to others through aesthetic principles. As an artist my goal is to always transfer thoughts from deep within onto the canvas. I believe in painting from emotion and allowing what I’m feeling to guide the direction of each and every piece of art created.”
TERMS
Mixed Media: The use of different materials in the same work
Original: An original work of art is the source from which all copies, reproductions, or translations are made. It is the physical piece of artwork which was created from the hand of the artist.
Open Edition: A series of artwork in an art edition that has an unlimited number of copies. It can be signed or unsigned, but will not typically b numbered by the artist.
Limited Edition: A limited edition print is one in which a limit is placed on the number of impressions pulled in order to create a scarcity of the print. Limited editions are usually numbered and are often signed.
Signed and Numbered: Authenticated with the artist’s signature, the total number of impressions in the edition, and the order in which the impression is signed; “7/30” indicates that the print is the seventh signed of an edition of 30 impressions.
Artist Proof: Traditionally, when limited editions are published by a gallery, the edition is sold exclusively by the gallery. However, the artist is given a small number of prints for his own personal use, usually 10% of the number of limited editions. Thus, the edition is labeled “Artist Proofs” (A/P).
Remarque’: Remarque’ limited editions prints have an original, small, hand-drawn sketch or painting by the artist in the margin (usuall positioned next to the signature or edition number). This feature increases the value of the edition.
Giclee (zhee-klay): The French word “giclee” means “to spray.” The images are scanned and digitally stored in a computer and sent directly to a high resolution printer. Unlike other printing methods, each image is sent to the printer individually. The giclee process provides a better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.
Canvas Print: A canvas print is a reproduction that is printed directly on canvas instead of paper, giving it the textured look of the canvas surface of an original painting.
Hand-embellished: Describing artwork that, once printed, is enhanced by the artist with textures, color washes, and special touches of color highlighting.
