This post was inspired by an article I read in the August issue of Essence Magazine. You know the one with the fine
Idris Elba on the cover. The name of the article is called
"Black Women Behaving Badly" by Kierna Mayo. This ariticle examines why we as Black women Hate on one another. It talks about how we need to put aside Jealousies to love, support, and affirm our sisters!
Which is why I started my blog Sistas-Helpn-Sistas. I am soo tired of hearing and seeing my sistas hate on one another. From everyday life To the Fake Ass Reality Shows on Television. There is nothing wrong with competing for a job, like on America's Next Top Model, but competing for one lame ass Dueds affection, like For the Love of RayJ, now that is just ridiculous....To Me. The 14 women on his show didn't learn anything from the Flava of Love? Television especially Reality Television only promotes tension among Black women and making damn sure our daughters only see childish, ignorant images of themselves on the television screen. This article is the real deal hollifield, lol because it ask questions that we as women need to answer truthfully, like
'Have you looked @ another black woman up and down?.....Spilled your bffs secrets?...Flirted with another woman's man/husband, then ended up in bed with him?..and so on.
This article cuts right to the truth about why we hate on each other.
Insecurities are at the root of the problem...one of them anyway. While reading this article I found out that one of the women on "Real Housewives of Atlanta" was not asked to come back because she "Failed to provoke negative controversy". I was wondering what happened to her, the only "Grounded" woman who was doing positive things for young girls. Seeing the commercials of the new season proves that the show is focused on Drama. And I will not be watching them! IDK about anyone else but I am sick and tired of seeing women that look like me act like a fool!
There is statement called the "Sister Accord" by Sonia Jackson Myles I will be adding later. It is a pledge and a promise about how we are going to change how we treat each other....
